ADVENTUROUS PEAK DISTRICT WEDDING

“WE WOULD LIKE TO WALK DOWN TO THE TORRS IN NEW MILLS AFTER THE CEREMONY AND HAVE OUR PICTURES TAKEN”

Oh I do love an adventurous Peak District wedding!

I’d know Rebecca for a while when she contacted me to ask if I would be available to shoot her wedding. I’d done several shoots for her business, in fact, one of the first commercial shoots I did for her was of her now husband Kevin, on a climbing wall. Rebecca and Kevin are massively outdoorsy people and I just knew their wedding would be right up my street, so I was thrilled to be asked and even more excited that I was available for their date “Our wedding is going to be fairly informal” but their outdoorsy/mountain themed wedding was every bit amazing!

One of the things I admired about Rebecca and Kevin was the fact that in the middle of planning a wedding, they moved all the way over to the French Alps! (not jealous, honestly ? )

bridal prep with a view

Rebecca had chosen to get ready at The Sheep Shack in Hayfield. For those of you not familiar with it, it is surrounded by the most stunning views of Kinder Scout, which also happens to be my favourite place in the Peak District. She was surrounded by her close friends, parents and her twin sister (it’s a good job one of them was in a brides dress).

Everyone was so calm and relaxed and Rebecca’s dress was absolutely stunning, so unique and incredibly pretty. I’m not going to lie either, when her brother pulled up in his T5 to transport her to New Mills, I did a little happy dance inside. So awesome!

the ceremony

It was a glorious summers day and Rebecca and Kevin had chosen New Mills Town Hall to get married in, which is an impressive building as it is. Their service was beautiful and there were smiles all round from all of the guests.

After the ceremony we headed over to New Mills Tors, a place Rebecca and Kevin climbed regularly and was really close to their heart. It was the perfect location to do group shots and their couple portraits.

adventerous couple shots

New Mills Tors is such a  beautiful place, as a former climber myself I can really appreciate why Rebecca and Kevin wanted to do their couple photos here! The weather was mostly fantastic for their shoot and only the last few minutes did it start the drizzle a little. They well and truly embraced it though and the shots came out amazingly! I do love it when I get to shoot an adventurous wedding in The Peak District.

THE RECEPTION

After the group and couple shots, everyone headed back to the Town Hall for the wedding breakfast followed by evening celebrations. Kevin and Rebecca had opted for a ‘naked’ wedding cake and it looked beautiful!

LITTLE MOMENTS

I love it when you catch little ones doing super cute things, like wearing the brides shoes, or writing a little note in chalk for the bride and groom ?

the speeches

Rebecca and Kevin couldn’t thank the The Butterfly House enough after all their hard work and I think their gratitude was more than evident ? the food was incredible and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say the staff worked so hard and it was appreciated by all. Another big shout out to Howard Town Brewery who provided the wonderful bar on the day.

The speeches then followed, including an untraditional speech by the bride herself. It was a refreshing change and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The decor and stationery for the day was the epitome of adventure! With the design of everything being outdoorsy/mountain themes and the names of all the tables being all the mountains they love.

It was absolutely fantastic and right up my street, being a lover of the mountains and the great outdoors!

the evenin

The evening celebrations were an absolute blast! Rebecca and Kevin absolutely rocked their first dance and the moves that followed from the guests were equally as enviable ?

A wonderful adventurous wedding day in the Peak District, with an equally as wonderful couple. I wish you all the happiness in the world!
