PEAK DISTRICT ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
Heather and Mark’s wedding at Castlefield Rooms in Manchester was such a fantastic day.
Castlefield Rooms in Manchester is a stunning venue located in the heart of the city. Heather had previously seen my work after purchasing my partners landscape photography book for her father and had come across my page after he had thanked me for helping him out. She’d been following me for a while and knew as soon as they were planning their wedding, that she wanted to book me.
For their Getting to Know You shoot, we headed to Kinder Reservoir for some epic scenic shots by the water. It was a great opportunity to see how Heather and Mark were in front of the camera and we came away with some fantastic shots.

Castlefield Rooms, Manchester WEDDING VENUE
The Castlefield Rooms is such a brilliant venue for anyone wanting that more industrial feel to their wedding day. It boasts a number of unique features, including exposed brick walls and original beams, which add character and charm to the space. It is also located in a prime location, situated in the trendy Castlefield area, with the canal and city centre just a short walk away.
Heather started her day by getting ready at home, surrounded by her closest friends and family. Teal was the colour scheme of the day, which was really highlighted in the décor of their family home. She looked fab in her beautiful wedding dress and the most amazing turquoise shoes. The weather outside was a mix of stormy clouds and beautiful light, which is typical of the UK.

The ceremony itself was small but intimate, with only close family and friends to witness them tie the knot. I love small and intimate ceremonies as they feel so much more personal and it’s a great opportunity to capture the emotions of the guests.
After the ceremony, Heather and Mark had their couple photos taken by the canal locks, which provided a beautiful and unique backdrop for their wedding photos. The urban environment surrounding the canal, with its mix of old and new architecture, added to the charm and character of the day.
Castlefield Rooms Reception
Their reception was also held at Castlefield Rooms, which made the flow of the day seamless. There’s definitely an advantage to having a wedding day all in one location. Heather, Mark and their guests enjoyed a lovely meal together, complete with wedding speeches and toasts to the newlyweds.
In the evening, Heather and Mark ventured out to the bridge for some super industrial night portraits. The mix of city lights and off camera flash made for some awesome photos that the couple will treasure for years to come.
One of the lovely touches included at the reception was the wedding cakes, which had each been handmade by a few special guests. This personal touch added to the intimate and family atmosphere of the celebration.
As the night drew to a close, SI had such a great time photographing Heather and Mark’s city wedding, it was a lovely change from the usual countryside weddings I shoot.
